Vehicle Selection
You will see the first part of the display list (the vehicles selected) in the upper section of the screen. Use the right hand scroll bar to view the full list. If you wish to see more vehicles at a time, you can expand the upper screen by dragging on the double bar below the scroll bar, at the base of the upper screen. The display list shows vehicle model details and the running costs by value and pence per mile, based on the term and annual mileage displayed in their respective boxes on the top left hand side of the upper screen.
The main screenVehicles shown in the upper display screen are displayed in two font colours, black and red. Red denotes a new vehicle to your system.
Comparison ColumnThe Lower Section of the screen displays the SMR category labels on the left and the selected vehicle in the list immediately to the right of the labels. This is called the transition column. You will see that the Maintenance Total matches the Running Cost shown for that vehicle in the upper screen. If you wish to retain the SMR details for that vehicle in the lower screen and choose another vehicle, first click on the Add Comparison Column button. The details of the selected vehicle will be copied onto the next column. In the upper screen, click on another vehicle to see the SMR details in the transition column for the new vehicle. Repeat the process for further vehicles to a maximum of 17 vehicles. To produce a hard-copy print of the lower section, click on File, and then select Print. If you wish to clear down the SMR details for those vehicles, click the Clear button on the toolbar.
Filter ToolTo create a new display list of vehicles, click on the Filter button (showing the ‘funnel’ graphic) at the top of the main screen. You will see the Filter drop-down, which allows you to key your display list selection criteria. The tick boxes at top right allow you to view only new vehicles to your system or include unadopted and or pre-current vehicles. If you tick the top box on its own, Show only latest updates, only vehicles new to your database with the C0 VSC will be displayed and should be in red text. You may also wish to tick the Include unadopted check box to see ALL the vehicles new to your update. To select the entire database you need to tick only the Include unadopted and Include precurrent check boxes.
OLPCOLPC - Operating Life and Pricing Criteria The Options menu gives you the opportunity to change pricing formats and the way you compare figures.
ParametersParameter Settings are accessed from Options then Parameters.
See the description below for each tab:
Custom DataCustom data is held at vehicle level and is saved against the URN in your ini file. This means that any new vehicle will always hold default data until reset by the user. To help you apply custom settings that you have previously set for a similar vehicle, to a new vehicle, there are the Copy Values and Paste Values buttons at the bottom of the vehicle data sheet. If you identify a new vehicle in the top screen, highlighted in red, all you need do is find a similar vehicle that you wish to copy the values from.
SMR ControlsMaintbook includes functionality to enable the user to include or exclude any one, or a combination of SMR categories displayed in the lower section of the screen. This facility adjusts the pricing across the entire database. Both the lower section values and the Display List Running Cost and Pence Per Mile values will change accordingly. When maintbook is re-opened, the SMR Control will revert to all categories selected; if categories are removed a yellow warning marker is displayed in the lower right corner.
Hi-Lo Global ControlIt is commonly argued that high mileage vehicles will incur costs at a lower rate than the ‘average’ and low mileage vehicles at a higher rate (Both extremes are very subject to driver style). An example would be the high mileage motorway car – reduced braking, reduced clutch use and reduced tyre scrub. Maintbook computes SMR costs at the same rate (subject to spreads) throughout the mileage range; therefore the user may wish to adjust these costs. To provide the user with the ability to apply an adjustment as described above, the following information would be required:
Used VehiclesThe used vehicle calculation is for calculating the difference between two contract terms such as when calculating a purchase lease back (PLB). The selected age and mileage of the vehicle is displayed in the first comparison column and shows the past expected spend. The last column displays the difference between the two previous columns, the expected running cost to complete the remaining term. If you have a number of vehicles of a similar age and mileage simply click on the different vehicles in the top section of the maintbook screen to see the appropriate running costs. To do a few thousand like this could take a very long time but SMR Audit can run an entire fleet through this calculation
